Winner of This Year's Butterfly Award!
Our judges selected Zach for this special award, just for children 16 and under. Zach and his family attended our New York awards gala on March 19. He will receive a $25,000 donation toward his work helping homeless children.

ALEXANDRA SCOTT
was a little girl with cancer. She was diagnosed when she was only a year old. Alex was a very special person, and she knew other kids had cancer too – just like she did. So, at age 4, Alex started a lemonade stand to raise money for children’s cancer research – “so those kids can get better, too.” When we met Alex at age 7, her lemonade stand had become an international movement, with kids around the world selling lemonade to fight cancer. Shortly before she died, Alex told her parents a story about butterflies. Since then, the butterfly has become a symbol of Alex’s life and her fight to stop cancer. We thought her story was so amazing, we created a special Volvo for life Award, just for her.

THE BUTTERFLY AWARD
will be made to an exceptional child hero. Children who are no older than 16 as of October 15, 2007 are eligible to receive this award, which includes a $25,000 donation to a charity selected by the winning child hero and his or her family. The Butterfly Award recipient and a guest also will be invited to attend our Gala Awards Ceremony at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City on March 19, 2008 as special guests. Finalists for the Butterfly Award receive a $10,000 donation to a charity of their choice.
